The destination

Primošten

Primošten is a small town on a former islet just off the coast, famous for its stone houses, churches and narrow Mediterranean streets. All around it are beautiful bays and islands.

In the past, Primošten stood on an islet near the mainland. In 1542, during the Ottoman invasions, the islet was fortified with walls, towers and a drawbridge linking it to the mainland. After the Ottomans withdrew, the drawbridge was replaced by a causeway, and in 1564 the town got its name from the Dalmatian word "primostiti", meaning "to bridge". Surrounded by seven small islands, it is a natural wonder that amazes everyone who visits.

Once a simple fishing village, Primošten has become one of the most popular destinations on the Adriatic, and its charm draws visitors from all over the world.
